I Am Worcester "Mask-Up Gallery" - Jaya Sreedhara |
Description |
"I Am Worcester: Jaya Sreedhara has worked at Worcester's City Hall for over 20 years. Jaya immigrated from India in 1979 and has lived in Worcester ever since. Jaya fondly shares the memory of her family's restaurant legacy: 'Their legacy in Worcester is long and storied including opening the first Indian vegetarian restaurant in central MA, Annapurna Restaurant, where I worked for many years while attending school until it closed in 1993. Some of my fondest memories took place at Annapurna Restaurant. We shared Indian culture and cuisine with Worcester and in turn developed relationships with customers from Worcester and beyond.' These days, Jaya is proud to serve as a polling location warden, 'I look forward to every election not only because I'm giving back to the City but because it's a chance to interact with my neighborhood and community.'" |
